How to draw custom layer lines accurately on Google Earth.

Google Earth offers border and road lines on maps. It provides upto secondary administrative region (actually ternary if considered international/country-level border as primary, state-level border as secondary and district-level boundary as ternary layer). But if you have something specific that you do not find on Google maps or any other online maps available, and you want to add it on your map especially on Google earth and save it for future reference; here’s HOW TO for creating your own lines accurately on Google Earth using old-school tracing paper technique.

You need:

A PC (a computer with as big screen/monitor as possible)
A tracing paper (semi-transparent white paper)
Pencil (or pen)
sellotape
Google Earth software
Internet connection.

Procedure

Sketch detailed map on your tracing paper for your desired area.
Open Google Earth app and place tracing paper on user monitor screen.
Use sello-tape to glue on the screen. (This requires two persons.)
hold the paper and click on ‘add path’ on google earth.
Mark the path, name it and save it.
There you have it! remember the location where you’ve save the file, it must in kmz format.
DONE!

The best part of this kmz file is, it’s tiny, you can send it as attachment and your friends can open it and see it on their PC. Just like I’m now sharing the same file that I created on the above snap.

You would definitely notice if you open the Dahanu Border I created using authentic maps and tracing paper. download Dahanu Tahsil border in kmz format! Notice the area in picture above? It’s my taluka place Dahanu, and am uploading this file for all my visitors. Google failed to sketch Maharashtra-Gujrat border and Dadara & Nagar Haveli area properly. I think their state level border plotted it wrongly.

If you know someone (male or female) who’s looking for job near my residence (where I live, Gholvad/Bordi area) you can help me connect to him. I’m looking for a young talent who can work with me on some projects at my home office. I’m pretty flexible & dont have strict criteria as such… but following is my preferred choice.

Should be Graduate or diploma holder (preferably BSc-IT/BCS?)
Has sound knowledge of computer operating
Good at internet surfing
HTML web programming such as PHP (knowledge of MySQL, PHP or java will be bonus)
Should be curious and have desire to learn (and adapt)

If you find someone with ANY of above points, send him through. Spread the word across your network and maybe we can find some talent around… I hope you already know my mobile no. Please call me first instead of send the person directly. Thank you.

It’s been raining since last three days at my village. (drafted article on 23 July) and I wanted to take video but couldn’t successfully make a good clip, (I told you, I’m not good at this)

Last night had a treat to the eyes as we experienced the get-together of the Moon, the Venus & the Jupiter.
Yes, if you remember my yesterdays tweet, you’d noticed that I mentioned that city people cant really enjoy such eyes treat. But this one was exception, it was clear and sharp that even in Mumbai people could take pictures & clips of the incidence.
But from rural place like Gholvad, of course I could see better; I wish I could take better photographs & upload them but they all were too shaky. I finally made a video clip of that which I might upload on youtube. but for time being you can enjoy this Clip from someone else.

If you’re curious to know which one of them is Venus & which one is Jupiter, I’ve some hints for you. Don’t be too smart to apply your books-knowledge here or go by figures & statistics & ‘sizes’. In reality, it’s exactly opposite .
Yeah! you guessed it right, ironically Moon is smallest among the three & Jupiter is largest still it looks weak…. for obvious reasons.
